Our University Continues to Support Regional Farmers

As in the rest of the country, there has been a rapid increase in the establishment of fruit orchards in our region in recent years. To address the existing issues of producers in one of these rapidly developing areas, Doğubayazıt district, and to find solutions, a team consisting of Agricultural Engineer Muhammed İSEN from the Doğubayazıt District Agriculture Directorate, Agricultural Engineers Eda ÖZÇALICI and Muhammet ÖTER from the Ağrı Plant Quarantine Directorate, and Assoc. Prof. İsmail ALASERHAT, Director of the Farmer Training Application and Research Center and a faculty member at our University’s Faculty of Agriculture, organized a visit to the fruit orchards in Örtülü village on May 30, 2024.

Incorrect practices related to pruning, grafting, and other cultural techniques in the fruit orchards were identified, and producers were provided with guidance. Additionally, advice was given to the producers regarding existing pests and disease factors present in the orchards.
