"We Travel from Village to Village, Bringing Knowledge to the Land"
Within the scope of the support activities for farmers carried out by the Farmer Education Application and Research Center operating within our university, visits were made to the Küllük village in the Central district of Iğdır province and the Merkez, Buruksu, Üçkaya, Eğrekdere and Gaziler villages in the Tuzluca district on 18.07.2025.
Deputy Director of the Farmer Education Application and Research Center Dr. Murat GÜVEN, Nahihan KILIÇ from the Technical Sciences Vocational School, and Res. Assistant Seren DOĞAR KAVAN from the Plant Protection Department took part in the visits.
During village visits, general problems in vegetable production areas were addressed. One-on-one meetings were held with producers to exchange information on issues such as encountered diseases and pests, irrigation methods, fertilization practices, plant protection strategies, and rising input costs. The high density of disease and pest populations in vegetable production areas was particularly noteworthy, and producers' awareness levels and demands for solutions were assessed on-site.
The visits also emphasized the importance of scientific agriculture, the impact of sound practices on yield and quality, and the need for university-farmer collaboration. It was stated that Iğdır University always supports the region's farmers with such educational and informative activities related to agricultural production.
