​Our Village Visits Continue Within the Scope of Farmer Training

On November 7, 2024, Assoc. Prof. İsmail ALASERHAT, Director of the Farmer Training Application and Research Center of our University, and Assistant Director Dr. Lecturer Murat GÜVEN visited Yüzbaşılar village in the Central district of Iğdır to address the issues and problems faced by farmers in our province. During the visit, they met with the farmers and exchanged ideas regarding their challenges. Discussions covered topics such as the farmers' incorrect practices concerning the Alfalfa Weevil (Hypera postica), which causes significant damage to alfalfa fields, and proposed solutions. Information was shared on the importance of pruning and other cultural practices in plant protection, the advantages of new techniques in vineyard production, production costs, issues, methods of combating diseases and pests, and chemical control methods. The significance of having an Agriculture Faculty affiliated with Iğdır University in the province, especially for producers, was also highlighted. At the end of the meeting, it was emphasized that Iğdır University will always support the region’s farmers.​
